1. What is the use of kink in clinical thermometer?

 

Capillary tube has a bend near the bulb known as kink, which blocksallows the mercury from returning back into the bulbfrom going away from the bulb when the thermometer is taken out of the patient’s mouth to be noted conveniently.

2. Why do we jerk a clinical thermometer before we measure the body temperature?

 

The jerk to the thermometer will blockwill allow the mercury level to flow into the bulb flow away from the bulb so that the mercury level is abovebelow the normal temperature.
