Prepositions are short words that are used before a noun, that helps to determine the position of the noun. They can also modify the nouns and act as locators for time and place.
Some prepositions that we regularly use are at, to, with, about, while, under, bottom, above, until etc.
We use prepositions at, on, in when we talk about time. Remember the situations when we use them:
At:
1. Time
Example:
i. We can meet at 9 am.
ii. I sleep at 10 pm.
2. Holidays
Example:
At Christmas we eat tasty dishes and give presents.
3. Phrases
Example:
At the moment
At noon
At midnight
At the end of
At night
At dawn
At the weekend
At the beginning of
 
Are you busy at the moment?
 
In:
1. Seasons
Example:
i. I like swimming in summer.
ii. It grows well in spring 
2. Months
Example:
i. In May we will have a holiday.
ii. We will come over in August
3. Years
Example:
I. In 2014 we opened the first shop.
ii. I was born in 1996
4. The parts of the day
Example:
i. In the morning, I like eating fruit and eggs.
ii. I go for a walk in the evening
 
On:
1. Days of the week
Example:
i. On Friday we usually go to the cinema.
ii. We have class on Thursdays
2. Dates
Example:
i. On the 1st of March we are planning to go to Madrid.
ii. He was born on the 17th of August
3. Holiday with the wordday”.
Example:
i. On New Year’s Day many people get together in a  family circle.
ii. On the day of the meet, we got ready
 
By:
We use by when we talk about transport, with passive voice, and when we talk about things that are connected with a person.
Example:
i. She goes to work by car.
ii. I will come by
 
With:
With is used to say that people or things are in a place together or are doing something together.
Example:
i. Do you want to stay at the hotel with friends?
ii. I am coming with you
